Front-End Application
It's possible to see the MAPPED Front-End application in action downloading these demo videos.
The first one shows how to display surrounding point of interests as well as the information related, accordingly with the user's position, preferences and disabilities.
The second one shows how to plan a pedestrian route and how the MAPPED application navigates the users through the streets

Running The Application
In the first menu the user has to introduce his/her user code and his/her password to access the application. If the user doesn’t have user code and password he/she can get both by
registering in register menu. To access to this menu the user must press
Register button.
In this menu the user can also exit the application by pressing the exit button and the user can also access the MAPPED project site.
Register Menu
In this menu the user can get a new user name or change the password of an existing user name.
The user must fill in the user he/she wants to use, the new password and confirm the password being introduced. Then, the user must press the
Register button and wait till the
application goes to the previous menu.
Main Menu
Here the user can access to the different menus of the application:
- Configuration menu
- Excursion Planner
- Walk Service
- Point of Interest
- Contact Mapped
To access
Walk Service you have to have connection to the Internet.
1 - CONFIGURATION
From this menu you can access to three menus:
- Select Profile
- Change Password
- Configure GPS
1.1 - Select a Profile
There are five possible profiles with different characteristics for MAPPED application:
- Normal
- Visual impaired, low vision and blind
- Ambulant with disabilities
- Wheelchair
- Deaf and hard hearing

The second and the third profiles enable oral guidance in all the application. This guidance informs the user in what part of the menu he/she is. It can also give the user a brief description of
every menu to make it easier to the user to move in it. Depending on the user’s disability the point of interest contains more or less accessibility information.
1.2 - Change Password
This menu gives the same capability as the
Register menu. The user can change the password of his/her user code.
1.3 - Configure GPS
Every time the user runs the application the user has to enter this menu to run the GPS.
The first step is to search a GPS device to connect to. When a device is discovered, the user has to press
Start to connect. You can disconnect an activated connection any time
by pressing
Stop button.
2 - EXCURSION PLANNER
There are two types of excursion:
- Normal
- Pedestrian

In normal route the user can plan an excursion where he/she can use all the transport available in the area.
In pedestrian route the user can plan an excursion where the user is informed every moment the actions he/she must do to get to the destiny of the excursion. In this excursion the user can
request all available points of interest in an area.
2.1 - New Excursion
This menu enables the user to create a new normal or pedestrian excursion.
2.1.1 - Normal Route
The user has to choose the origin and destiny nodes and the date and hour when he/she wants to make the excursion.

When all the parameters are selected a request is made and the user will receive the information concerning the route. This information will tell the user what transport he/she must take and
the hour of departure and arriving.
2.1.2 - Pedestrian Route
To use this capability the user must activate the GPS and must be connected to the Internet.

When the user enters this menu, he/she will receive a map centered in his/her location. The user can make a free walking and the viewer will constantly inform the user of his/her position in the map.
The user has three options:

Show points of interest: This option will look for the points of interest in the map area and will show them in the map.

Point of interest: To access this option the user must choose a point of interest before. This options leads to a new menu containing all the information of the point of interest. From this menu the user
can access to another two menus:
- Snapshot Viewer: This menu allows the user to see the available images of the point of interest.
- Accessibility information: This menu shows all the accessibility information of the point of interest.

Point of Interest Configuration: This option drives the user to the Point of Interest Configuration menu.
4 - POINT OF INTEREST (POI)
In this menu the user can choose the point of interest types. When the application makes a request to get all the point of interest in an area, the request will be made in base of the points of interest selected
in this menu.

The first level category corresponds to a general field. The second level category is more specific.
From this menu the user can access to the
Walk Service where he/she request the points of interest of the area.
5 - CONTACT MAPPED
This menu contains other submenus to get in contact with MAPPED project.
APPLICATION KEYS
Keyboard: Displays a keyboard to write when necessary.
Menu information: Gives a brief oral spoken description of the current menu where the user is.
Repeat: Repeats the position where the user is in the menu.
Up, down, left and right: Cursors to move through the menu.
Executes: Makes the action of the current element of the menu.
